It’s cashmere. Not very thick but quality like all major store brands, such as Saks Off Fifth cashmere or Neiman Marcus Cashmere (and I know them all. :) That said, this means it’s not thickest cashmere and shrinkage (should you decide to wash in water, and/or air dry) is practically guaranteed.What it’s NOT is Theory cashmere dress quality. If you can get a Thoery dress on sale, the price could be the same, but cashmere thicker. Other than that, this is a fine price for a fine dress. Great color. The only way to get something like that cheaper, and new, is to shop clearances/ final sales. But then of course you may need to know your size well since sometimes there are no returns.Note: while the sizing is fine, those do NOT run large. I’m typically an S and an M fits not too loose, not too tight. (Measurements: 5’5”, 33 bust, 27 average waist—depending how much I eat ;), 38 hips. I don’t know how much I weigh right now, sorry.)Say, Garnett Hill cashmere runs very large. Unless I buy XS in that brand, their cashmere dresses look like potato sacks. (Finest cashmere though, that brand.)This brand, I purchased an M because an S was out of stock. I figured, it will shrink after the first wash. Fit is not fitted but not too loose. So this M fits like an XS in Garnett Hill, and smaller than an S for Saks Off Fifth or Neiman Marcus. That said, the sleeves are cut well in that they do NOT ride up your armpit in this M size. So this is quite perfect, except maybe if I wash it (I wash all my cashmere in warm water), it will likely shrink, and I don’t know how much. Washing it in water should make it super soft though. I’m waiting for that level of post-first-wash cashmere softness.Hope this helps. This is legitimate cashmere. Treat yourself. Enjoy. :)
