A natural extract derived from the stevia plant
After reading that the normal stevia you may find in a typical grocery store isn't quite what it's made out to be, I researched how to get the sweetener I was expecting to buy. There is a huge difference in how sweet this is. I ordered micro measuring spoons from Amazon as well after realizing how little of this product I needed to make my coffee sweet. They don't recommend using pure stevia in warm products as it can have a bitter aftertaste but I have not had a problem with the transition. My husband, on the other hand, will stick with his aspartame.I've been using aspartame in my coffee for over a decade and the flavor with stevia is noticeable but not enough to deter me. After using something for so long, you have to give a new product a fair chance. Now, I prefer stevia over aspartame (and I'm sure my future self will thank me).The recommended dosage is 1/16 of a teaspoon but for one cup of coffee (roughly 8oz) I had to trim it down to a level 1/64 of a teaspoon. This stuff is powerful, so don't be afraid to cut it down to taste.A 2oz package may not seem like a lot but it is! I purchased my first package in Feb 2022. I'm estimating it will last me four months at least.Would highly suggest making the switch if you've been considering it!Stevia has a bad rap because almost no one in the U.S has ever tasted product equal to the quality of this product.I've been selling Stevia for years into the Nutraceutical Industry and been forced to use my companies expired samples for personal use because we don't sell under 5kg Qty. The cheap stuff sell 20 to 1 over the Gras level quality product. The garbage you commonly find on the market [usually 90% Steviosides OR LESS] is 1/4 to 1/3 the price of this product, Available at a fraction of the cost everyone markets the cheap stuff and depends on masking agents to cover the bitterness or just plain sells an inferior product. It's a shame that no one knows what true stevia tastes like. Truvia what a joke. [Explained Later]When comparing Stevia look on the label. Does it say Reb A [Rebauside A] 97% or above, if it doesn't specifically mention Reb A [Rebauside A] then it's the cheap stuff. Reb A is a constituent or Glycol of the Stevia Plant which is 200-300 times sweeter than sugar, 0 Calories, and approved by the FDA for Food.I've sold and tasted the two and I can tell the difference, and the taste and concentration of this product is spot on with authentic Gras caliber Stevia. By the way I don't sell to this marketer and don't have any interest other then to educate others. This is the real deal. It does not have that bitter aftertaste associated with Stevia. It doesn't have dextrose or any fillers so you'll need a super small spoon or be prepared to use very small amount.Stevia 95% and above has Gras or Generally Recognized as Safe. This means that the FDA has approved it for use in common food and beverages. Any lower grade Stevia has to be sold with a Dietary Supplement Warning Label. This is the same stuff that they use in Truvia but without the Fermented Corn Starch, sorry meant to say erythritol, that they cut it with. Truvia is a joke, it is heavily cut Stevia, while I've been told that it's good in Coffee, I'm not a fan of fermented Sugar Alcohols. From Live Strong"Sugar alcohols such as erythritol are difficult for the body to digest, which can cause digestive problems if you eat too much. Symptoms include diarrhea, gas and bloating. The amount needed to cause symptoms varies greatly based on your individual tolerance. Some find that even small amounts of sugar alcohols upset their stomach, while others can tolerate higher amounts before they experience gastrointestinal symptoms."Until you've tasted this Stevia you aren't qualified to judge Stevia as a sweetener. What it's good for:Tea - Green Black pu-er Chai you name it and it works great.Great to boost the sweetness of any Fruit Drink Such as Cranberry JuiceGreat to boost the sweetness of any fruit such as Grape Fruit, or Black Berries, Blue Berries, StrawberryGreat to sweeten Yogurt, Cottage Cheese and FruitSmoothies etc..Great with VanillaWhat it's not good for:Coffee- Aargh Tastes Horrible Alone.Hot ChocolateYes this product is more expensive then the commodity products but it's also much more expensive to manufacture and the marketers cost is higher too.Try it!As the old saying goes, you get what you pay for.I bought a half pound over a year ago. Takes about 1/16 tsp or less to sweeten tea to my taste. I had to buy surgical microspoons to scoop up that little. I use it 8 times per day... that half pound is going to last me TWO YEARS, making it the most economical and best tasting stevia out there. ONE CRITICISM: on the package they keep saying LESS than 300 times as sweet as sugar. I sure wish they'd clear that misstatement up. They mean MORE than 300 times as sweet as sugar. Discouraging to see 4th grade math errors. This stuff is strong! which I really appreciate (altho' it took me a bit to make the adjustment :) ) There *is* more of an aftertaste than I like to have with my stevia extract (and more than I've had with other brands of high Reb A extract) altho' the price is nice. It also does "funny" things when mixed with other components: breaks my homemade mayo when just a little is added to it (to make a Miracle Whip copycat), and when I tried to make my own liquid stevia (which should have worked just adding filtered warm water to it), the whole thing turned into a thick white foam-like substance. I have very high suspicions that this stuff is not extracted using just water (as other brands I've used do). I was wanting to like this - twice as strong as what I've used previously, good price, and easy fast shipping. Unfortunately, I think I'm going to go back to my Canadian source. I was much happier with the taste, no after taste, and no funky weirdness when trying to dilute or use in recipes. :) It's just REALLY expensive shipping!Long time Amazon shopper and I have never written a product review previously, but had to make an exception for this. It's the real deal. My previous go-to was the Liquid Stevia drops from Trader Joes. After taking a risk and buying this product, I will never go back. This is the PINNACLE of sweeteners. I can only describe the taste as "bright" and satisfying. I keep expecting an aftertaste of some kind, but it never comes. The only downsides - it's a tad pricey and hard to measure for day to day use (the liquid drops were very convenient in this regard).I highly recommend this product. While it does not have a taste identical to sugar, it is far sweeter, and with the addition of either a tiny amount of processed sugar, or some monk fruit extract, it can replace the sugar you normally use. It does not make a drink, or dessert, "rich", but does give it all the flavor you might care to have. In baking, puddings, gelatin, Ice Cream, or even just a beverage, it is more than adequate. I recommend it heartily.
